What Is DENSITY RF Lifting?

What to know if you're considering RF skin tightening

Availability: DENSITY and POTENZA equipment are expected to arrive on October 14, 2026. Please confirm the actual treatment start date and availability with the clinic before booking.

Hello,
this is Oganacell Dermatology Clinic Magok.

If your facial contours are starting to look less defined or your skin feels less firm than it used to, you may have already come across radiofrequency (RF) skin tightening treatments.

With different devices available, including Thermage and DENSITY, patients often ask us:

“What exactly is DENSITY?”
“How is DENSITY different from Thermage?”
“Is DENSITY suitable for sagging skin?”

Today, we'll take a closer look at DENSITY RF skin tightening, including how it works and some of its key features.

What is DENSITY?

DENSITY is a non-invasive radiofrequency device that delivers 6.78 MHz RF energy into the skin.

One of its distinguishing features is its use of monopolar and bipolar radiofrequency energy.

In simple terms,

Monopolar RF can deliver energy into relatively deeper tissue, while
Bipolar RF targets comparatively more superficial layers.

This allows the treatment to be planned according to the depth and condition of the patient's skin.

How does RF improve skin firmness?

RF treatments work by delivering radiofrequency energy into the tissue to generate controlled heat.

This thermal stimulation affects collagen within the skin and encourages the subsequent collagen remodeling process, which may help improve skin firmness and overall tightness.

DENSITY may therefore be considered for patients concerned about:

✔ Loss of skin firmness
✔ Less-defined facial or jawline contours
✔ Fine lines
✔ Skin that feels less tight or resilient
✔ Natural-looking improvement in skin elasticity

However, even patients of the same age can have very different skin thickness, facial fat distribution, and degrees of laxity.

For this reason, an RF device should not be selected based on age alone.

Another key feature: Impedance Feedback

Skin thickness, hydration, and tissue characteristics vary from person to person.

This means that even when the same energy setting is used, the way RF energy is delivered to the skin can vary.

DENSITY incorporates an Impedance Feedback system, which monitors tissue resistance and adjusts RF energy delivery accordingly.

Rather than simply using higher energy, the goal of RF treatment should be to select an appropriate treatment approach based on each patient's skin condition.

Worried about discomfort during RF treatment?

When patients ask about lifting treatments, discomfort is often one of their main concerns.

DENSITY uses a 5-level cooling system designed to cool the surface of the skin during RF energy delivery.

This cooling mechanism helps protect the epidermis while reducing discomfort during treatment.

The level of discomfort can still vary depending on the treatment area, energy settings, and each person's individual sensitivity.

Is DENSITY the same as Thermage?

This is one of the most common questions we receive about DENSITY.

Both DENSITY and Thermage use 6.78 MHz radiofrequency energy, but they differ in how the energy is delivered and in the specific design of each system.

DENSITY also offers different treatment tips.

The Classic Tip uses monopolar RF, while the High Tip utilizes both monopolar and bipolar RF energy.

Instead of simply asking,

“Which device is better?”

it is more important to consider factors such as skin thickness, the location and degree of laxity, facial fat distribution, facial structure, and the patient's desired outcome.

The most important factor: choosing the right treatment for your skin

There are now many different types of lifting and skin-tightening devices available.

However, a well-known device is not automatically the right choice for every patient, and the same number of shots or treatment settings should not necessarily be applied to everyone.

A patient with more facial fat may require a different approach from someone with a slimmer face.

Likewise, treatment planning may differ depending on whether the primary concern is jawline laxity, overall skin firmness, or fine lines.

At Oganacell Dermatology Clinic Magok, our doctors assess each patient's skin condition, facial structure, and individual concerns before recommending a personalized lifting and tightening plan.

You don't need to decide which treatment you want before your consultation.

A professional consultation can help determine whether DENSITY or another lifting treatment is more appropriate for your current skin condition and goals.

Treatment results, discomfort, and recovery may vary depending on individual skin condition and treatment parameters. A consultation with a qualified medical professional is recommended before treatment.

Risks and aftercare to discuss

RF treatment may cause temporary redness, swelling, warmth or tenderness; burns or pigment changes can occur less commonly. Avoid irritating the treated area and follow your clinician’s aftercare instructions. Contact the clinic if symptoms persist or worsen. Results and side effects vary with skin condition and treatment settings; decide after a medical consultation.
